Have you had more problems with your own bank going in the way of what you want to do with your money (e.g. blocking a genuine transfer, wasting your time through emails, calls, verifications) or helping you (e.g. preventing a fraudulent transfer)?

@elduvelle the false positive rate is high but I think that's what you want? Cost of false positive is low while cost of false negative is high.

What are your favorite unusual elements of your studio/study/office? Drown me in inspo please!
I'm renting a little space for myself as an experiment: never had a creative space of my own, always a shared office or tiny corner of a shared bedroom. Excited to see what happens to my practice when I play idiosyncratic environmental dictator.
One element I'm really liking so far is a big dedicated writing/reading desk with no computer. Putting up a big 8'x6' pin-up wall next.

Not my current office, but YS Wu — my boss at NRL — created a conference room in an old chemistry lab with one entire wall as a green chalkboard. Hallway to windows about 30 feet. Floor to ceiling about 15 feet.
We sometimes filled it wall to wall, to a height of six feet or so, and updated its content for weeks.
This is the reason I try to reply to every interaction I enjoy on the internet, even if it’s just a small lol or same. Internet is usually the last resort for a lot of people who are depressed and alone. I know I was. So now I’m just trying to pay it forward https://mastodon.me.uk/@publicwondering/116138261901156053

And because we want to use this year’s Fediday to build further strong connections for the #OpenSocialWeb with #activitypub, #atmosphere and #atprotokoll, we’ve simply set up a bridge:

Thought I'd take a moment to introduce myself.
I'm a writer/wonk/advisor focused on the future of #transportation and #technology. I think designing cities to accommodate #cars was a cataclysmic mistake -- for #climate, quality of life, health, and equity -- but it's one we can fix.
I'm a Senior Fellow at the MIT Mobility Initiaive, and I've written 100+ articles on #mobility and #cities in Slate, CityLab, The Atlantic, Fast Company, The Verge etc.
Very happy to be a part of this community.

Sì, ni, be', ... tutti tutti no.
Una linea rossa c'è.
Ovvero la narrazione malevola di cui sopra.
La linea rossa è la violenza, la prepotenza, la sopraffazione.
Esempio:
' Perché non creiamo classi speciali per i bambini con disabilità ? '
Questo oltrepassa la linea rossa, tanto per fare un esempio, perché è violenza, prepotenza, segregazione.
' Il 35% di questi posti riservati alle donne secondo me è un po' troppo' invece è una posizione.
Sigh. Been waiting in this here hospital day surgery unit for four hours now (for a 30 minute procedure).
@cstross It is the 21st century.
They could text you to say they're running late and tell you to come in a couple hours later. They could, but they don't.
During the last few days I witnessed the setup of a Samsung phone with their Android flavor and a Windows 11 initial setup and wow was I not aware how bad things have gotten: the amount of dark patterns and bullshit to get people to "consent" to data mining stuff is unbelievable – and that is if they even give any option to avoid making accounts etc.
Makes it even sadder that Free Software still hasn't become Liberatory Software.
Again:#EU will continue to make its members violate foundational norms of int'l law (prohibitions of genocide, annexation of territory by force, torture) until its leadership will put the interests of banks&markets (including trade with Apartheid Israel) above all.
@FranceskAlbs Pas mieux ...!
if I license some elisp under a license named “the free software license” and the license text is an extended rant about how we don’t have software freedom with LLMs, text about how you aren’t licensed to use this software as part of any LLM or generative AI system including training, and then “otherwise the terms of the GPLv3 apply except where they conflict with the previous terms”, how long do you think it’ll be before I get mail
Looking for a job where I’ll be in a dungeon and putter away on my instruments
